What am I doing wrong?

not sure if expecting not happy quality of dvd.  have sony cx160 have set standard quality. things focus , exposure set auto, record hdsd card.when copy sd card stored on hard drive .mpg file.  have preset in premier set hard disk , wide screen , 720x480.  load scenes project , trim off not want drag clip timeline.  have black 855x480 jpg file @ beginning , end of project , 1 855x480 jpg photo , 1 855x480 jpg is   green background overlay use videomerge with.  use disolves between each scene.   when done editting burn going share , , dvd quality set best image.  said need know if setting correctly.  final quality seems same old digital 8 stuff had put on tape copy dvd using stand alobe dvd burner.  maybe expecting much.  ideas great  thank you  hal

it sounds doing things correctly.

unfortunately, mpeg footage has been compressed once, project preset chose, should keep good, possible. when share>dvd, pre have transcode mpeg-2 dvd, have second compression going on.

now, if viewing dvd on computer monitor, or hd tv, not great, sd on hd device. if have either up-rezzing dvd, or newer bd player attached hd tv, things better, up-rezzing players have special chips amazing job going sd source hd display - no near bd project, better dvd-video sd tv, in old days.

you see double-compression there faster, off-axis movement, , either subject, or camera. there can blockiness , artifacts compression.

now, 1 question: duration of timeline? determines how high bit-rate, pre can use, fit material onto dvd.

good luck,

hunt
