hi,
replaced motherboard of system. prior swap had 3 hdds, 1 ubuntu , grub2, 1 windows7 , old 1 xp , wubi install.
when upgraded plugged in windows7 hdd , reinstalled.
other day plugged in old ubuntu disk , works fine if hdd, if have win7 hdd, grub2 boot gives me option of ubuntu or win7. win7 works fine ubuntu throws /boot mount error, followed /home mount error.
booted in ubuntu disk, ran update-grub, modified /boot/grub/grub.cfg, on rebooting (with both disks), grub2 seems still know about/discover both disks , ubuntu disk still gives same errors.
presume because disks in different location (or different uids). there software way fix this, i.e. 1 doesn't involve trial , error plugging in disks different sata ports ?
uuids should not change when add or remove hdds, both partition , hdd numbering may. example, /dev/sda may become /dev/sdb when connected non-first hdd. suspect grub setup doesn't use uuids @ linux partitions (think case ubuntu 8.04). anyway, you, please post contents of grub configs.
