Gradient issue with text

i trying spread gradient evenly across text , figure right method create outlines, make compound path and apply the gradient. however, when doing this parts of word filled, while others being cut off. below screenshot of this, errors can seen.

 

 

 

what doing wrong?

you not need convert outlines.

 

simply add new fill via appearance panel , set fill gradient.

 

 

if want create outlines though. once do, not need make compound shape. type has been converted outlines contains compound shapes chracters counters. suspect creating compound shapes again, broke counters.
