recently, cloned 35 gig hd ( 25 gigs of data on ) 165 gig hd using clonezilla. went beautifully , 165 gig hd works perfectly. clone regularly 165 hd 35 ( of course, long data on 165 not surpass 35 gigs )
can that?

yes can done, warning not supported , there possibility of failure. if on regular basis, think bad gamble.

35g partition may better idea.
