hi folks, reading !
switched integrated gpu (i5-650 clarkdale) brand new nvidia gt520 hdmi output worse vga : bright colors saturated. noticed switching hdmi colorspace "full" "limited" (using nvidia-settings) reduce effects doesn't solve it. tried play monitor setting, no luck.
not case previously. i'm using latest nvidia-drivers , 2 monitors same reference (lg 22" lcd - w2261vp-pf). ubuntu 11.04.
i assume comparing video playback colour saturation etc..
seem know..
hdmi video (tvs) uses different colour space & use yuv encoding (actually ycbcr) not rgb.
hd & sd video have different colour space.
pc can output either full or video & afaik hdmi connectible pc monitors okay both. edid data indicates capability.
setting colour-space full limited meant adjust rgb levels 0-255 16?-235.
don't know yuv output..
nvidia driver use full range default pc type display (from edid info) & video mode used.
nvidia driver's seem have known & unfixed problems colour-space.
experience nvidia vdpau gt240 & hdmi yuv plasma tv has excellent (correct) colour & blacks..
version of nvidia driver using ?
266 or later seems have addressed of problems.
using vdpau video decode/presentation ?
there vdpau settings colour space. how set/get them outside of mythtv/xbmc, not know.
