Preflight settings work at the page level but not the document level?

greetings all,

 

just wondering if has run this: i'm running acrobat 10.1.3 on lion , i've been struggling getting preflight settings work. can simple fixup (convert grayscale, example) work on page or 2 extracted large document (800 pages), can't same fixup fix whole document.

 

i've tried on several different large documents same results. , yes, did try usual stuff...quitting, restarting, rebooting, different docs, different fixups, duplicated known working fixup...

 

i'm @ wit's end it. ideas?

do settings work on small or medium size documents? such as, instead of 800pgs, how 2 page file, 4 page file, 16 page file? in order diagnose, have start systematized test procedure see fails. fwiw, don't use feature, preflight supposed work on whole documents, not current page?
