Thread: proftpd manage folders per user

im trying set ubuntu box ftp server. followed frodon's guide set proftpd , works no problems. need bit of aditional configuration.

need have 5 users (lets call them sydney, brisbane, melbourne, perth , john). need each user (except john) log in , see "upload" folder , "download" folder, need unique, , each user cant see each others folders. , when john connects should "syd upload", "syd download", "bri upload", "bri download", "mel upload", mel download", "per upload" , "per download".

possible proftpd have these 8 folders somewhere /data, , have empty ftp root folder link in appropriate folders depending on logs in?

i've done before filezilla... need know how on linux box.

ps: should point out 8.04 server... no gui (excpet webmin)

have read on using chroot?
