Converting Spot to Process - CS5 vs CS6

when use pantone color in cs5 , convert process, values cmyk. however, when use same pantone color in cs6 , convert process, different values cmyk.

for example, pantone 2685c converted process in both applications yields:

(cs5)  c-96, m-100, y-0, k-10

(cs6)  c-90.73, m-100, y-30.6, k-16.54

any thoughts or similar experience?

why spot color pantone plus series in cs6 appear different same spot color in cs5 , older versions?

in cs5 , earlier versions, included older versions of pantone color books, spot colors pantone had 2 definitions - lab , cmyk. in addition, default setting of spot options dialog cmyk. cmyk values took priority on lab values. spot color added document came cmyk values.

in cs6, introduction of pantone plus series color books, there 1 definition spot colors. these definitions in lab values. so, particular spot color pantone can appear different in cs5 (and earlier) how appears in cs6.

workaround if it's necessary same spot colors identical in cs5 (and earlier) , cs6, can replace pantone plus series ® older pantone color books. see workaround 1 below. it's necessary change setting of spot color dialog of cs6 document use cmyk values manufacturer's process books. these 2 steps make pantone spot color uniform across different versions of illustrator. however, impact cross product workflows indesign , photoshop, if using new pantone plus series ® these applications.
