Thread: Hosting a webserver with out fowarding my GD domain

hi all!,

have set small website running ubuntu 10.10 server. in past have bought domain godaddy , have set forward no-ip address points server. dont think looks good. ex visitors can't copy , send url page on site because masked url points home page. putting rambling, here question. can make godaddy domain points directly apache webserver out domain fowarding or masking?

thanks
carlos

you have 2 options.

1. manually enter public ip address in godaddy's domain control panel dns settings. point record public ip. need update when ip changes.

can subscribe dynamic dns service such dyndns. option use dns servers, , script update records automatically. script can run on server or routers have dynamic dns providers listed handle @ router level.

used dyndns service. pay service when use own domain. can more expensive if add many domains names did. made getting vps ~$10/mo. more of no brainer.
