Thread: Remove Gnome/Unity

i have question playing around different desktops. have unity running ubuntu 11.04 , not sure want continue it. did gnome may decide not go there either try out other desktop environments.

can remove unity/gnome ubuntu installation if choose use desktop environment?

unity shell on top of gnome,if install gnome-shell [if mean gnome]unity break , yes,you can remove unity , compiz there.

if want discover other de's,i install them , try them out.
if find 1 keep,i rather fresh install de,instead of removing parts of gnome , unity.

removing parts of gnome , or unity de,is rather sure way break system,i wouldn't go there if you.
