Thread: synaptic package not working anymore

i saw below similar problem solution not me
cannot packages @ anymore or updates , when try says report problem

'e:encountered section no package: header, eroblem mergelist /var/lib/apt/lists/us.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_natty_main_i18n _translation-en, e:the package lists or status file not parsed or opened.'

have no idea means , dont know im supposed report

code:

sudo rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/*

then

code:

sudo apt-get update
