Thread: Segfault with multicore on Athlon II X4 630

i having trouble getting new 4 core cpu working without segfaults. here's full story:

i've built new machine these parts:

amd athlon ii x4 630 2.8ghz
msi 870-g45 am3 motherboard
athlon ii x4 630 3.8ghz cpu
mushkin 3x2gb ddr3 sdram 1333 (pc3 10666)
zotac geforce 8400 pci express 2.0 x16 hdcp video card

, i'm running lucid (ubuntu 10.04.2 lts).

found when first starting system up, 1 of 4 athlon cores being seen machine reported /proc/cpuinfo, , seen in dmesg line:

so tried tinkering grub boot command. this:

i took out "nolapic", leaving me this:

that triumph. had 4 cores coming up:

however, within 30 minutes hour of booting, started seeing segfaults on place:

this has happened consistently through 3 reboots. went , put "nolapic" in grub boot command, , segfaults have gone away -- along 3 of 4 cores. have advice on can try?
