Thread: Ubuntu install on a Windows XP machine - A few questions

greetings,

have been trying ubuntu 11.0.4 few days without installing it. on machine. far, have discovered of existing windows files on disk still accessible booted ubuntu os, devices functioning , can open files them great (*.txt, *.doc, *.pdf, etc).

question is:

if instead of launching ubuntu test purposes, go full install on box, reformat hard drive, install , wipe out of files? great if install did not delete files.

regards,

jean-pierre

ubuntu not delete (well 11.04 won't).
safety precaution should confirm not more 3 primary partitions exist on hard drive, , there free space on hard drive ubuntu install (not free space within partition).
if case can install ubuntu using "install alongside" option in installer.
