Adding/Changing Text Color in Custom Module - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hello, i've searched everywhere answer following question, , i've tried come answer using firebug. after many hours of confusion, i've still haven't figured out.

i created module position (vtmenu) via jdoc statement. then, created menu module (verytopmenu) , put in module position created. using html, got menu text lined want it. using css, added background color module position.

now, i want change color of menu text. tried several different things, can't text color changed. i'm looking simple yet stable solution.
