hi, i'm using 10.04.2, , find whenever i'm trying update (whether using synaptic, or command-line apt-get), package download starts off fine, after downloading few files (usually 4 or 5), next partial (ongoing) downloads become corrupt, remaining downloads stay in partial folder , apt-get gives size mismatch error .
i'm forced watch update progress entire time , wait downloads corrupt (at point progress bar stops @ say, "downloading file 4 of 70" details show subsequent files are being downloaded). abort update process , clean /var/cache/apt/archives/partial folder (not archives folder, or all packages have downloaded again). restart update , picks after last downloaded .deb.
effectively, every such iteration downloads 3-5 .deb files successfully, , corrupts remaining. needless say, if i'm upgrading 50 packages, gets frustrating.
faced problem on new installations on system friend's. lucid, maverik, natty have same problem. new installations, mean on first boot, setup network (i'm behind proxy server in university) , that's it. tried linux mint , had same problem.
i forgot mention, i've been using ubuntu here past 4 years never faced problem until recently. also, not ubuntu users in college seem encounter problem.
