hello problem seems largest resolution can set 1024x768 (built in vga controller intel g33) if 1 me on issue set larger resolution in windows 7 had 1024x1400.
note: totally new environment windows user detailed response appreciated.

1. click system -> preferences -> monitors , see if can adjust resolution there
2. if not, you'll want install graphics drivers device, click system -> administration -> hardware drivers , install available drivers devices. once done, repeat step #1
