update: ordered 2 sdram, each 512mb $26.00, going install , try 11.04, if works running pure ubuntu desktop.


need in choosing proper version of ubuntu older desktop pc. here few specs i've gathered hope enough determine proper ubuntu version. pc older unit bought tiger direct , not fancy. believe most functions directly in mother board sound.

01. processor: x86 family 6 model 11 stepping 1 genuine intel ~1302 mhz.
02. bios: american megatrends inc., 062710,7/15/1997.
03. smbios ver.: 2.3
04. total physical memory: 128 mb.
05. original os windows xp premium home version.

update: there issue xp reboot not work, format 20 , 40 mb hard drives, make 40 mb hd master , 20mb slave, @ point use live cd install pure ubuntu 10.04.02. believe lack of reboot causes issues ubuntu install, maybe not. format solve reboot issue making 40mb hd master. report update. i'm going set solved now.

you try lubuntu, 128mb of ram hard push.
if feel adventurous, i'd try ubuntu minimal installation.
