keyboard arrow keys. installed vdrift, unplayable with
arrow keys, thought try old andretti steering
wheel/pedals setup. has both usb , gameport connectors, needs
drivers gameport, doubt in existence
ubuntu (the old win98 drivers work xp, , works fine
there).with usb, wheel recognised:

vdrift, or torcs not recognise wheel, when trying to
run jscal, wheel , pedals, , buttons, reproduce mouse
movements , buttons! have looked through can (i'm linux
re-newbie, played around in mid 90s it, 10.04
did decide use linux main os)but can't figure out if, or how,
tell machine 2 different devices, , let me use
them playing.

no special drivers installed (just trigger rally game beforehand).

driver version 2.1.0.
joystick (ciponic technology mad catz andretti racing wheel) has 4 axes (x, y, hat0x, hat0y)
, 4 buttons (trigger, thumbbtn, thumbbtn2, topbtn).
testing ... (interrupt exit)
axes: 0: -1352 1: 0 2: 0 3: 0 buttons: 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:off
jscal -c /dev/input/js1
follow steps, pedals positive , negative values on 1 of axes.

vi .trigger/trigger.config
change keyboard enable no, , joystick enable yes
had swap + , - forward , reverse.
