july release - new admin user interface updates, additional customer reports , bug fixes

we announcing new business catalyst release, scheduled go live on monday, july 2nd.

release, have focused on improving new user interface , make ready prime time, added additional reports , continued updating new file manager. additionally, we started deliver on series of fixes , product improvements have been requested our partners during last few months.

infrastructure updates

to ensure highest security , performance levels our services, we're applying software update on our database servers. more details update, read our business catalyst service maintenance, june 2012 - updated blog post.

features , enhancements

new admin interface default interface new users

with release, new admin user interface become default interface new users , customers, regardless of when website has been created. ensure smooth transition new interface, continue allow customers use interface of choice , system remember selection next time login admin.

customers , secure zones report

secure zones great way of creating membership websites lacking basic reporting features have enabled customers view detailed information subscribers or send them email campaigns related subscription.

with release, enhancing our reporting system allowing customers create , save reports of customers , secure zone subscriptions. report automate many of manual tasks site owner has today extract actionable reports customers subscribed secure zones. additionally, once such report created can used in email marketing system send email campaigns these customers.

for next release looking exposing opt-in status customers can view subscribers communication preferences , act based on information.

redirect system domain , urls default domain better seo performance

starting release, allowing users redirect system domains , urls default site domain or corresponding url using 301 redirects. customers achieve better seo performance , avoid duplicate content penalties search engines. enable redirect, users have edit system domain , check redirect default domain check box.

with july release, going enable same functionality secure url well, exception of payment pages , post requests, remain on secure domain.

note: when admin user logged in admin using system domain, system not redirect front-end pages while session still active; user must log out of admin redirect work.

user interface consistency renamed modules

the new admin user interface has been updated consistently use new names these modules:

media downloads (former literature)
news (former announcements)
events (former bookings)

there still two areas old naming being used:

module & tag names (e.g. { module_announcement }, { tag_announcementurl_value })
ftp folder names (e.g. /layouts/announcement)

these take significant engineering effort update, need support existing sites checked out local file systems, or replicating existing sites. of partners using features intensively, decided leave these areas old naming now, , redirect engineering effort in 2 larger projects under way: handling partner enhancement requests , better web apps engine.

offline payment security improvements

the security of current offline payment workflow has been improved in order meet international security standards offline payments:

a new, additional “offline payment password” must set, , updated every 90 days
pass phrases unique each order. can no longer use 1 pass phrase access every secure pdf

transactions more secure , protect business owners potential attacks. here's more detailed view of feature.

delete paid , creative cloud sites admin console

we moved "delete site" functionality admin console of website in order creative cloud users , beginners cancel existing paid website don't need anymore. here's snapshot of new feature.

other changes

invite partner user: starting release, partners can add other partners site admins through site details screen in partner portal. functionality has been moved user management interface , enabling partners collaborate on developing site without impacting site admin limit
file manager alpha: drag'n'drop can used move 1 file @ time between different folders
file manager alpha: expired sessions prompt re-enter password , resume work on opened files
billing settings admin menu hidden users of trial or creative cloud redeemed sites
metaweblogapi switch https - starting release, push security update metaweblogapi of business catalyst disallow use of unsecured connection (http) sends login credentials in plain text.
updated time zone crm entities: have updated several crm screens display entities based on site's time zone instead of asia pacific datacenter time. following lists have been updated: customers, orders, cases, event bookings, opportunities , modules>comments
updated free trial sign-up: free trial sign existing business catalyst or adobe id user creates additional trial site , places under user's partner portal

deprecated functionality

crm user passwords no longer exposed through api , custom reports - release completing our security policy update crm passwords , stop delivering crm user passwords through api , custom reports. more details security update, read our important security policy updates crm users - effective february 8th announcement
blog trackbacks, not present in new user interface, have been removed new sites templates well. while existing trackbacks continue work, recommend remove them sites due spam issues, , use instead social modules more effective content sharing
triangle dreamweaver extension versions cs3 , cs4 stop functioning after july 30th. please use these newer alternatives.
separate menu visibility setting has been dropped new admin user interface , replaced more granular permission system control menu visibility. more details new permissions system on our february release notes blog post
