Granting Author Permission to Specific Page

i have requirement grant individual authors access specific page (and no other pages()

i found unexpected in doing this.

i created user "product1" , granted them read / write / create / delete access to:

however, unable edit properties of page widgets until granted them read access to:

is correct? have expected not required.

i confirmed did not have access view sibling products i.e. following not visible:

i needed grant read access libs/* - i'm not sure if possibly security risk. i'm assuming it's ok people able read foundation source code.
