Tip: non-destructive texture


if you're working on image lot of layers, , want add texture, instead of merging layers new 1 , applying texture merged layer, can:

  1. create new "overlay" layer above layers want have texture.  need use layer...new main menu bar , select "overlay" mode , "fill neutral color" option.
  2. apply texture overlay layer.

 

for example:

texture layers.png

 

for image effect:

lighthouse_painting 02.png

 

the advantages of doing this: 

  • if don't effect, need delete 1 layer start again.
  • you can adjust opacity of layer fine-tune texture effect.
  • you can create more 1 texture layer, using whichever texture appropriate final output.

 

 

 

this works filter...noise...add noise, several textures filter gallery, including film grain.

also if want use 1 preset patterns, 1 fill layer (the paper texture layer in screenshot); edit>fill>pattern , use filter>stylize>emboss same texturizer filter.
