Thread: /var/lib/apt/lists/lock

i have jsust installed ubuntu 11.04 in computer.
have install other softwares downloading packages. while downloading downloads few packages. while going through sudo apt-get update type of error occours

e: not lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (11: resource temporarily unavailable)
e: unable lock directory /var/lib/apt/lists/
e: not lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: resource temporarily unavailable)
e: unable lock administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), process using it?

solution,plz suggest me..

you able run synaptics , other processes, have access /var/lib/dpkg, once @ time(anything has packages, installation or updates). make sure, you're not running @ same time.

e.g. terminal1: sudo apt-get update
terminal2: sudo apt-get install xy
