Thread: Network Mgr says connected to wireless router but cannot ping it or access internet

i new linux. installed in on dell inspiron 6400 unable access internet. on network manager applet, says i'm connected.

tried ping 192.168.0.1 , says network not reachable.

i'm confused.. not have broadcom card , *did not* have bcmwl-kernel-source package installed get-go.

have ideas?

after banging head against wall many times... magically worked. stopped network manager, restarted, stopped wlan0, , restarted... etc.

not know fixed it. modified /etc/network/interfaces add

auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp

other things did..

modified /etc/networkmanager/networkmanger.conf (from false -> true)

[ifupdown]
managed=true

rebooted machine .. worked.. maybe might others same problem.

think there issue here. network manager reports connected when did not pass there. tried no passwords.. says connected on other end not match w/ router's status.

should address this.
