Alt not working to Duplicate?

hello:                                                            os: windows 7 64bit

 

i working on tut says after drawing line > hold down alt & shift keys , drag line down.

 

i did once , worked fine. however, had other problems resolved had start on , above not duplicate line nor can move in above manner.

 

any ideas?

you should able duplicate object alt key , need use selection tool (black arrow too)
