Thread: Problems regarding the screen resolution ......

hi guys ,
run ubuntu 11.04
lcd monitor supports resolution of 1600x900
thing ran fine until :-
today switched on ubuntu box
resolution changes 1024 x 768
monitors application shows max resolution 1024 x 768 , cant above it. monitor listed unknown...
whenever edit xorg.conf , file goes missing after every reboot (see screen shot)
please help!

interesting, /etc/x11/xorg.conf file vanishes on reboot? let's see if there's info on hardware might help.

sudo apt-get install hwinfo sudo hwinfo --display sudo hwinfo --framebuffer sudo hwinfo --monitor

also, can give little information hardware?
