Thread: Problems installing ROOT

hi,

warning: got linux yesterday.

i'm looking install root (root.cern.ch) on ubuntu 11.04 64-bit. downloaded source version 5.28.00 (root.cern.ch/drupal/content/downloading-root), extract it, , ./configure. message
code:
checking libx11 ... no configure: libx11 must installed
root.cern.ch/drupal/content/build-prerequisites says need libx11-dev. however, when sudo apt-get install libx11-dev, message
code:
libx11-dev newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 remove , 0 not upgraded.
i'm not sure how proceed here. looks libx11 files in /usr/lib32 when maybe should in /usr/lib, don't know how move them (copy/paste doesn't work, , again, got linux yesterday).

familiar enough stuff me out? thanks.

i don't remember seeing lib32 before installed 64bit os , i"m pretty sure that's why there. files don't need move copying them on might trick. see part in configure file looks them?
code:
if test ! "x$enable_x11" = "xno" ; check_library "libx11" "yes" "$x11libdir" \ ${finkdir:+$finkdir/lib} \ /usr/lib /usr/x11r6/lib /usr/lib/x11 /usr/openwin/lib \ /usr/local/lib /usr/local/lib/x11 /usr/local/x11r6/lib \ /usr/x11/lib /usr/lib/x11r5
lib32 not in list of directories search i'm pretty sure not made 64bit system.

having said can alt-f2 , type gksudo nautilus copy/past root. going give terminal command copying i'm confused because xll directory in /usr/lib libx11*.so files in /usr/lib32 yeah use alt-f2 way , copy think make work.

still don't know if work since looks wasn't made 64bit
