"Menu Item Alias" pointing to "External URL" NOT working - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support
here issue:
i need public menu item point registered menu item takes me part of site. this, user gets see menu item, clicks on it, allowed login , transferred final destination. joomla 2.5.x has other ideas.
here steps:
1. create new menu, "members-only-menu"
2. create new menu item, "practice test" of "external url" menu item type. set "registered" access
3. not create menu module "members-only-menu", since not displayed
4. on 1 of public menus, "free tests", create "menu item alias" menu item "practice test" (of external url type). set "public" access.
5. when user clicks on "practice test", system presents login screen (correct behavior).
6. upon logging in, system presents page load error (404-component not found)
instead of step 4, if set public menu point (registered) menu item pointing article, works fine. can login , happily read article
but why external url fail? ideas appreciated. thanks!
