GPU Upgrade

i have following config :

 

coolermater haf x

1000w corsair psu

asus p6x58d mobo

intel i7 970 gulftown processor

corsair ddr3 - 24mb total memory

gpu - asus ge force gtx 480

dell u2711 27" monitor

lg full hd tv monitor

windows 7 pro 64 bit

 

i running cs6 - production premium. editing hdv footage , compiling lot of after effects projects well.

 

i thinking of upgrading gpu, i'm not sure 1 best compatibility. 4mb gtx 680 gainward provide significant benefit on gtx 480? function optimally asus mobo?

 

if upgrade, 480 transfered new pc build.

 

any advice appreciated.

i believe there natural tendency improve new build in comparison existing build, have difficulty understanding:

the gainward 4 gb gtx 680 great card, based on specs. intend buy , you, have gtx 480.

 

however, in process of building new system , keeping current configuration in tact. adding 680 new system. don't expect huge performance gains. marginal @ best, main advantages of 680 lower energy consumption , less noise , possibility of steering 4 monitors.
