probably because flash not optimized linux? install ff plugin flashvideoreplacer, or if don't care watching youtube browser, install minitube light, fast , smooth youtube viewer

if want try minitube, install date version here

fvr allows watch youtube "normally" through browser, catch has use browser, takes lot of resources. minitube dedicated youtube watcher more efficient on cpu.

there third option, use umplayer frontend mplayer , can find same ppa above.
