Resize AND resample... in what order?

hello all.  i've had resample images bit on occasion use @ larger sizes (i.e. placement in illustartor or indesign @ larger size) , have done results. however, have different situation now.

 

i have image 300 dpi. working on huge display in indesign, , i've had place image @ 392%, gives me effective dpi of 76.

 

the display company i'm working wants image placed @ 100%, needs 100 effective dpi due nature of technology.

 

so think need both:

- resize image 392% and

- resample image 100 dpi.

 

i believe have two-step process using image size palette. question is, in order take these 2 steps , settings use in image size palette best results?

 

using photoshop cs5 12.0.4 on mac os 10.6.8.  thank you!

try forget ppi , dpi picture resolution measured height , width of picture in pixels.  if resample can create pixels, not increase resolution, , in fact may decrease resolution.

 

dpi priinter spec dots per inch of ink.

 

so need find out size of document in pixels h & w needed first.
