Thread: R8169 - Tried configuring for gigabit now even slower than before

this strange problem have read many people having:

getting full gigabit speeds when sending files linux box, when pulling them linux box speeds capped out @ ~16mb/s.

tried lot of things , none have worked , in worse situation having downloaded drivers straight realtek; can barely pull 6mb/s either way.

how rid drivers realtek , go whatever drivers linux used on own when first installed card?

have tried ethtool set gig speeds , though reads supported , advertised, when set 1000 (ethtool -s eth0 speed 1000 duplex full autoneg on) doing /etc/init/d/networkin restart still shows 100mb/s ethtool eth0 command.

appreciated, if cant solve original problem id @ least having gig speeds 1 way!

thanks.

edit: dont know whats going on.. have local network access not getting anywhere outside lan "no route host".

now got things screwy, got external net adding nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf ping 15ms google , cant speed test reading on 5mb on computer!

removed routes except 1 set in resolv.conf shows:

destination gateway genmask flags metric ref use iface
0.0.0.0 192.168.2.10 0.0.0.0 ug 100 0 0 eth0

when networking restart get:

destination gateway genmask flags metric ref use iface
192.168.2.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 u 0 0 0 eth0
169.254.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 u 1000 0 0 eth0
0.0.0.0 192.168.2.10 0.0.0.0 ug 100 0 0 eth0

, still have high ping.... whats going on here???
