hi there,
planning purchase pc used purely host virtual machines. plan install ubuntu server 10.04 lts , vmware server 2. reason have opted ubuntu 10 , not 11 have read there issues getting vmware server 2 run on ubuntu 11. have experienced issues installing vmware server on ubuntu 11 (desktop edition), whereas on ubuntu 10 seems more straight forward.
isn't question. want powerful desktop pc (probably ebay) 12 gb ram, , i7 cpu (eg: i7-960 3.20 ghz).
there issues running ubuntu 10 on i7 cpu? if so, quad core processors play nice ubuntu 10?
if there processor works has graphics related issues, might ok because plan install ubuntu server, won't have gui.
cheers,
paul
or, if don't limit myself i7, make difference? have found pc on ebay has intel i5-2500 (sandy bridge) cpu great price.
ubuntu server (10 or 11) run ok on cpu?
