Configuring SMTP Server - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

my website has been perfectlly running php mail() function..

but apparentlly , according host.. i've reached dailly or hour limit... temporary.. "temporary" ahs been going week... totally depend on form give users feedback need.

so basiclly i'm trying unsucessfully activate smtp way trough gmail. can anyway help? i've tried alll kind of settings , combinations more 10 websites , none works.

this 1 of many combinations i've tried already:

mailer: smtp server
mail from: tamadeira@topatlantico.com
from name: top atlantico madeira
sendmail path: /urs/sbin/sendmail
smtp authentication: yes
smtp security: none
smtp port: 25
smtp username: topatlanticomadeira@gmail.com (email created porpuse)
smtp password: gmail account password
smtp host: smtp.gmail.com

when try create user test configurations smtp error:
smtp error! not connect smtp host.

can please this?
