Thread: ubuntu- halts after 4-5 minutes when booted from external hdd(usb)

hi,everyone.i beginner ubuntu.
today installed ubuntu external hdd , booted it works fine 4-5 minutes after halts. not mouse pointer moves.what may problem.
specs:
1.external hdd seagate 500gb (100 gb partition ubuntu)(usb-only)
2.ram:2gb
3.processor:intel dual core.
4.chipset:intel

does external usb hd have power saving settings on?
