P9X79 Scratch Disk

here's system i'm building...

asus p9x79 ws

intel 3930k

32gb ram - corsair dominator

quadro 4000 video

plextor m3p 256gb ssd (sata-iii) on intel x79 controller

western digital 3tb (sata-iii) on intel x79 controller

areca arc-1880 w/ 4 drives in raid 5

corsair obsidian case

the os , programs on ssd, exports , general files on wd, media on raid 5.

the p9x79 ws has second hd controller, marvell 9128, can connected 2 sata-iii drives.  looks me there 4 options: 1) connect 2 independent drives, 2) connect 2 drives in raid 0 or 1, 3) connect 1 ssd , 1 mechanical drive , configure ssd serve cache mechanical drive, or 4) connect 1 or 2 independent drives , set ram drive serve cache 1 or both of them.

i'd use drive(s) connected marvell controller swap/preview/media cache drive don't know of 4 choices above use.  i've read marvell controller connected 1 pcie channel through-put limited.

any thoughts/advice/words of wisdom appreciated.

unless information below has changed (i don't have ssd, don't know) advice i've read not use ssd frequent writes... swap/preview/cache should go platter
