Acrobat X - Check for updates returns "Updates have been disabled by your system policy"

after installing adobe acrobat x standard, utilizing 'check updates' feature returns error "update failed.  updates have been disabled system policy.  error 100600"

 

searching around, saw mention happened on acrobat 9 uac enabled.. had acrobat 9 standard uac enabled, , did not encounter issue.  acrobat x, able check , install updates changing compatibility settings 'run administrator' -- leaving way causes acrobat throw uac prompt everytime launched.   there fix this?

are logged in administrator? need administrator updates.

 

have tried download updates http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=windows , install updates in order needed.
