Thread: Could not initialize the package information

i using ubuntu 11.04 , error notification on taskbar on clicking opens synaptic package manager following message:

not initialize package information
unresolvable problem occurred while initializing package information.
please report bug against 'update-manager' package , include following error message:
'e:encountered section no package: header, e: problem mergelist /var/lib/apt/lists/in.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_natty_restricte d_i18n_translation-en, e: package lists or status file not parsed or opened.'

how rid of this?

open terminal copy , paste command.
