Thread: Command line tool to see all availible networks

i writing java application measure strength of available wifi connections. this, use command line utility retrieve list of available networks.

i've tried iwlist wlan0 scan , see:

wlan0 interface doesn't support scanning.

have tried eth1 , eth0, , neither support scanning.

there different utility this?
