also black colour in colour photo. have tried black shows through , colour dull.
there few ways that.
one method select area, add hue/saturation adjustment layer (which, @ least here in pse10) automatically masked selection. in h/s layer settings, use "colorize" option. white areas need move lightness slider left (darker) colour you've chosen show. similarly, black areas, move lightness slider lighter side.
