i'm running ubuntu lucid. decide upgrade wine 1.2 wine 1.3 beta. noted upgrade deleted wine 1.2 part of upgrade. nothing runs under wine - not wine config program.
nevermind. system reboot fixed issue.
q4wine useful qt utility show wine-associated linux processes running on system (it's in repositories think). wine should update, without reboot, if there no active wine processes running (since runs entirely in userspace). q4wine lets kill off wine processes - pain find manually likes of: ps, pkill or system monitor gui.
