Thread: help please, can't boot up.

hi guys,

have been using ubuntu few years basic everyday use , have found forum helpful, have never needed post have alsways found fix i'm after.

unfortunately i'm struggling on 1 , in bit of panic machine no longer boot up, plugged in second screen not displaying (kinda fuzzy), knew screen ok looked fix. came across.

added text "nomodeset", saved , restarted, brief start logo distorted followed black screen, nothing else happens.

possible me terminal reverse did without booting main os, using live disk?

using 10.04 if helps. appreciated.

right, i'm booted recovery mode using shift key when booting , have "fixed broken packages" , "resumed". in looks terminal (after typing user , password) taking whole page. should try reversing did above now? open gedit me amend , save etc?
