hi, i'm relatively new illustrator (i'm fine artist not graphics professional) , having difficulty preparing pdf files screen printing positives.
i passed of photos through vector magic anf got 3 colour vector pdf.
i converted colours global spot cmyk.
what need each colour onto separate layer. don't have postscript printer , have prepared before take artwork print shop screen positives printed.
for reason when go select > same > fill colour (and either cut new layer or select inverse , delete on duplicated layer) i'm not getting showing up.
it looks document needs flattened or something, though have tried no effect.
is possible tell illustrator remove hidden behind else?
basically when try split out layers obscure layer underneath, hope makes sense someone!

that way many separation films there colours.
having done that, view artwork in overprint preview mode , adjust overprinting required (depending on whether using opaque or transparent inks).
