Thread: Gigabyte E7AUM-DS2H and HDMI Audio

i updated 10.10 11.04 doing clean install , audio on hdmi isn't working. i've verified in bios on board audio 'disabled' s/pdif interface disabled *but* when run alsamixer that's thing shows up.

use box exclusively mythtv frontend, , in mythtv under setup area gives me following options after 'scan audio devices':

null
alsa:dmix:card=nvidia,dev=3
alsa:hdmi:card=nvidia,dev=0
alsa:hw:card=nvidia,dev=3
alsalughw:card-nvidia,dev=3

none of them result in sound on hdmi. worked fine under 10.10 (and earlier). primary reason did clean install because after performing upgrade system froze @ 'mythbuntu' screen , couldn't information out of why.

ok, after following various posts in regard doing various things made no headway. 1 thing kept bothering me though did complete fresh install, had 2 nvidia drivers installed older 1 being used.

tried updating newer version of driver using mythbuntu-control-center, after rebooting experiencing same thing when did upgrade - system boot until mythbuntu log appear , hang. had down older 173.x version.

today tried updating latest nvidia driver again using mythbuntu-control-center, rebooted expecting hang - , didn't. expecting hadn't upgraded 'cat /proc/driver/nvidia/version' , new one. , audio on hdmi working again - haven't removed .asoundrc in home directory had placed there based on other threads not know if contributing working along udpated nvidia driver or not.
