Original vs Existing value on Datagrid

i have datagrid in columns have itemeditors combo boxes , datefields , other columns have editable datafield.  since fields bound instance of value object when changes value, changed in instance well.  there property keeps track of original value before value modified?  there modified property tell me if value has changed.  or need create kind of focus function save values in variables?  thinking flex?

i handle in underlying data model class. there datagrid itemeditbegin, itemeditbeginning, , itemeditend events.
