how to override featured articles component? - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi,

im trying override featured articles... going wrong.

when put default.php , default.xml to
html/com_content/featured/
default.php - override core
but default.xml - not - can't add new params

when change name new_default.php , new_default.xml
in html/com_content/featured/
new_default.xml - override core , have new position in menu manager:menu item type.

but new_default.php -not- , see oryginal default.php rendered.

i hope have solution,
