Thread: nVidia Driver Problems

hi everyone,

i've bought shiney new laptop, asus n53s series thingy, i've installed ubuntu on.

laptop has 2 video cards, 1 onboard intel job, designed low power usage, , nvidia geforce gt550m more advanced graphics.

when installed ubuntu booted using intel graphics card , (after whinging) booted in "ubuntu classic" mode (without unity etc). downloaded latest nvidia drivers, , ran nvidia-xconfig create xorg.conf file, when reboot x new file, complains there being no available displays, , can't start x manually without removing xorg.conf file.

have suggestions how around one? attached xorg.conf nvidia-xconfig creates, , output of lspci | grep vga in terminal.

if need more info please let me know.

cheers

adam

ps i'm running 64 bit ubuntu 11.04

nvidia optimus linux support not there yet. should go bios , check if can disable integrated gpu run on discrete nvidia card or try find out how disable nvidia card software.

sandy bridge gpu fast , without nvidia card if you're not going run high end games. in end must choose 1 of them.
