I cannot get Illustrator CS6 to work in isolation mode. Any suggestions?

i cannot illustrator cs6 work in isolation mode. suggestions? in graphic design school , learning illustrator. video i'm watch telling me double click element (which grouped) enter isolation. have tried severl times, rebooting computer see if glitch. still nothing happens when double click. using wacom tablet. tried clicking trackpad, still nothing happens.

make sure double click isolate ticked in general preferences.

 

or if isn't, may isolate clicking on isolate group icon on control bar.

personally prefer work way, reserving double-clicking other things.
