hi updated ubuntu 10.10 11.04 , instalation froze rebooted got me no where, ended trying put 10.10 installs doesnt boot, everytime boot machine either message saying
error: couldn't read file
error: need load kernel first

may or may not have recoverable system, have chance of knowing please download , extract boot info script, run it, , post contents of results.txt.
click on bis link in signature line go script page.
added: ubuntu livecd. also, 'out of disk' message may mean bios limited seeing portion of drive. on boot, might open bios setup , see system reports hard drive size (for ubuntu drive, if have more one).
