i've blank screen, flashing cursure, since yesterday afternoon. thing message, after control/alt/delete is:

checking nvah, moves i'm not sure message says, let alone means.

building new box scratch. i've memory stick ubuntu 10.10 iso , made through "startup disk" creator.

gparted ran, , think problem is. formatted hdd ./ 12 gigs, /boot 5 gigs, /data 38 gigs, ./swap 12 gigs.

can tell me happening, how stop screen make out "checking ????" saying. or, how can square one? ctrl/alt/delete restart essentially. turning off box , on gets brief glance @ bios splash screen , the blinking curser.
