Downsizing & printing

i using cs 5 , read in scott kelby's book downsizing. read through several posts did not find in answers. hope understand ratios because going print absolutely necessary work. have windows vista, work 8 bit, in camera raw.

 

i take files 13.6 x 20.5 , able print several sizes. of course, picture needed using crop tool not helpful. how can done? or can it? try not crop scene through viewfinder...

 

does using image size box in regard or still have crop because of aspect ratio?

 

in book mr. kelby has section, "resizing parts of image using content aware scaling." did not find helpful if has tips on appreciate it.

as read running aspect ratio , don't quite it.

 

first of open image/image size , see document size is.  can resize bigger , smaller aspect ratio stays same. 

 

so if have 4x6 inch document , want 3x6 have crop off width make fit.  if not want crop can distort picture stretching or compresssing 1 dimenstion, have distorted picture.

 

the other option add height adding more picture.  believe scott trying content aware.  making new pixels add picutre.  if simple sky can work easily, more complicated pictures may difficult acomplish.

 

just remember keep same aspect ratio have multiply height , width same number.  if print size different either have crop image or create part of picture none existed.

 

when taking pictures , not sure how want print take several pictures of differenct zoom magnification.  can crop way want if resolution good.
